With spring in full effect, and summer on the way, it’s time to air out your sleeping bags and waterproof the tent for your next outdoor adventure. Now is the perfect time to plan a trip to the Appalachian Trail, with 229.6 miles of trails just in Pennsylvania, following the mountain ridges east of the Alleghenies to the Susquehanna River.

The book Camping Around the Appalachian Mountains by Jim Crain and Terry Milne, published in 1975, is a collection of beautifully hand drawn maps and useful tips for camping both on the Appalachian Trail and its surrounding parks.

Along with camping tips there are also some great suggestions on things to do and see while out camping. Frisbee anyone?

An Appalachian Flip with Art in the Age ROOT would be the perfect way celebrate and cool down after a few days of hiking.

Thanks to WildWood for the great book images!
