Isaac Tin Wei Lin was born in 1976 to Henry Ai Hen Lin and Lydia Chao Yun Lin at a hospital in Wilmington Delaware. He is an only child and the first of his cousins to be born in the USA. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in 1998 with a BFA in Painting, he moved back to Philadelphia PA. Upon his return, he became a Space 1026 member where he made paintings and screen prints. For the next five years he worked odd jobs and participated in shows in and around Philadelphia. In 2003 he moved to San Francisco CA to attend graduate school at California College of the Arts.
After completing an MFA in Drawing/Painting in June 2005, he attended a two month residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Having had his fill of schooling, he returned to Philadelphia and is currently represented by Fleisher/Ollman Gallery.
