AN IMPERFECT UNION
A Re-Illustration of the Civil War By The Heads of State
July 1st – August 28th, 2011
As we celebrate our nation’s independence this July, we are also reminded of its deepest divisions. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. To commemorate this milestone, Art in the Age is lending its walls to The Heads of State, the Philly-based design and illustration studio of Jason Kernevich and Dustin Summers. Known for the elegance and conceptual simplicity of their illustrations, Kernevich and Summers have created a variety of silkscreened and archival prints that are sure to please Yanks, Rebels and Objectors alike.
Designing exclusively for this exhibition, The Heads of State will transform Art in the Age into a Civil War battlefield, applying their signature graphic style to deconstruct and reinterpret images of battle scenes and war torn capitals, regimental flags, newspaper headlines and more.
Join us for our First Friday reception on August 5th from 6-8PM
Meet the artists and enjoy Civil War inspired refreshments by Royal Rose, Brooklyn.
