La Colombe Torrefaction
Un Putain de bon Cafe
April 1-30
Opening Reception: First Friday, April 1st, 6-8PM
Todd Carmichael and Jean Philippe Iberti decided to join forces in 1985 while attending school and working in Seattle’s coffee industry.
In early 1994, the pair set up a roasting facility in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighborhood. Seventeen years later, the pair continues to champion coffee as a part of the culinary experience with the belief that taste always trumps novelty.
La Colombe’s latest project, Alelier, is a line of single batch coffee. Todd and Jean Philippe roast and sample each type of bean individually before approving them for a La Colombe Blend. As each roast possesses characteristics representative of the point of origin, Atelier presents coffee in its purest form.
During the month of April, La Colombe will use the Art in the Age gallery to highlight some of the landmark changes in the coffee roasting process that have influenced their current roasting technique. La Colombe will also showcase some of their current coffee farming projects from across the globe.
