Matt Neff
Matt Neff is a mixed media artist living and working in Philadelphia. He currently teaches printmaking, manages the print shop and the Common Press at the University of Pennsylvania. Matthew received his M.F.A. in 2005 from the University of Pennsylvania, a B.F.A. from Indiana University in 2002, and a B.A. in Art History from Indiana University in 2002.
Matthew’s recent exhibition history includes: Sugarcraft, Chicago IL; Natural Selection, Maryland Art Place, Philadelphia Selections, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts; Sugar Buzz, Bronx, NY. Exhibitions in Philadelphia include: Live With It, Emerging to Established: 25 Years of the Center for Emerging Visual Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Curated by Kate Ware, In Praise of Apathy; Relics, Myths, and Yarn ;Beyond Kiosk Ramp Project, Curated by Christoph Keller, Institute of Contemporary Art; Eidophusicon; 28 Degrees; Naked Paper and Flicker at Tower Gallery; Mixed Media, Mixed Company: Conjunctions at the Common Press; Design Philadelphia; Philadelphia Vernacular Spectacular Extravaganza; and the Philagraphika Exhibition at the William Penn Foundation.
Publications include: Print Magazine’s Regional Design Annual in November of 2007, and 2008 as well as American Craft Magazine. His work is also included in the collection of the Rare Books Library at the University of Pennsylvania.
His work with the Common Press is featured in a national portfolio of contemporary work in Letterpress sponsored by the Center for Book Arts in NY. He is currently a member of the programming committee for the Print Center in Philadelphia. His awards and fellowships include the Center For Emerging Visual Artists Career Development Fellowship, the 2008 PennDesign distinguished undergraduate teaching award from the University of Pennsylvania.
