Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Solo Exhibition, “Movement I, Movement II and a Sculpture”
At first glance of the image promoting AJW’s upcoming show, Movement I, Movement II and a Sculpture, I was very confused. The soft and romantic photograph of still life did not feel congruous with the artist I associate with Bart drawings, vivid abstract patterns and the notorious, Mr. E.T.
For those who are familiar with Andrew Jeffrey Wright, a longtime member of Space1026, you would know this will be his first solo exhibition in about three years. His excellence in absurd imagery has apparently extended itself to performance telling art jokes, having recently finished touring with Man Man this month. From May 30-August 1, 2009, you can view AJW’s new work at the Print Center. If you are in the area, the opening reception is May 30, 3-5pm. Maybe you can tell him your own favorite art joke and then maybe, just maybe, he’ll laugh with you or at you.
