Last week I had the pleasure of embarking on a tour of Space 1026 studios and printshop with Ben Woodward, one of its founding members and our creative director!

The sights "behind the art" ranged from creepy to fantastical, and included everything from a tiny room full of dripping red slime to a plastic robot the size of a grown man.

Suffering from no dearth of photographic documentation, this romp backstage will be posted progressively over the coming days.

Presenting...
INSTALLMENT ONE: Why Ben Woodward Rules (and why you should agree).

Fact 1: Ben does not work alone.

The Top 2 Coolest Things in Ben's Studio. NOTE: Scale discrepancy...This robot (a gift from Japan) is human-size!!!!

Fact 2: Besides printmaking, Ben also paints. On canvas. And on snapping turtle taxidermy.

He received a shipment of preserved turtles and various shells the day of my visit.

Fact 3: Ben likes kids. He has one of his own, AND has illustrated a children's book (due out this year) about a lovable androgenous creature who gets caught up in crooked business dealings.

SNEAK PEEK from Ben's forthcoming children's story!

Fact 4: Ben Woodward > Santa Claus.
At the end of the journey, I received a most pleasing gift! This 18" x 24" silkscreen print features my favorite of Ben's fantasy characters.

This little guy will soon live happily on my wall.

Again, a heartfelt thank you to Ben.
Stay tuned for more from my studio adventure!
