CALLING ALL PHILADELPHIANS! – RetroFit Philly Contest

South Philly has the Pat’s and Geno’s, but West Philly has UPENN and Clark Park.  Fishtown has Johnny Brenda’s, but Center City has Restaurant Week!  Obviously, there’s a lot of cool stuff happening all over Philadelphia.  RetroFIT Philly recently announced a contest to find THE coolest block in the city.  But forget your neighborhood coffee shop or dog park, this contest is all about energy conservation!

We all know how hot Philly gets in the summer, so in an effort to cut air conditioning costs and save a little energy, the City of Philadelphia, the Energy Coordinating Agency, and the Dow Building and Construction business group are teeming up for the Coolest Block Contest.

Entrants simply need to answer a few questions on retrofitphilly.com and they could win energy audits and white roofs for their entire block for FREE.  The weather might be hot, but the economy’s not, so this is the perfect chance for you to go green as well as save it!

Basically, this great organization wants to cool your home by 50 degrees with white roofs that reflect the sun better than typical asphalt.  Chances are, your block is a perfect candidate, as most homes in the city have no- or low- slope roofs.  On top of your super sun reflecting roof, the whole block will receive are sealing products that will give your air conditioner a rest and lower cooling costs up to 30 percent!

C’mon, we know you already think you’re block’s the coolest, so prove it and visit www.retrofitphilly.com.
