La Fête Nationale: Happy Bastille Day!

Painting above: Claude Monet – The Fourteenth of July, 1878

Today is Bastille Day, The French National Holiday! Bastille Day commemorates the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille in 1789; during the French Revolution. This event was a turning point in the Revolution and the movement toward a unified and modern France. Feasting and parades take place in cities worldwide, and in the French Quarters/Historic areas of over 50 US cities!

Although the festivities at Eastern State Penitentiary were last weekend, check out some local restaurants serving special French fare this week…

Enjoy a four-course Bastille Day Tasting Dinner at The Wine School of Philadelphia in Fairmount Park…or a celebratory Bastille Day Menu at Bistro St. Tropez
