Many of us live in communities where existing patches of natural areas are becoming smaller as development becomes more prevalent. Once these open areas disappear, so too will the wildlife species that depend on them for food, cover, and a place to raise their young. But we can re-establish this habitat in the open space that is left- in our backyards. Homeowners may wonder if planting a few native species can make a difference. The answer is yes! While one yard can’t support dozens of species, together our backyards can recreate a larger landscape, and become an extension of the natural area around us.
And don’t forget about the Members’ Preview Sale at the Schuylkill Center on Friday, April 23rd.
If you are not a member the sale will be open to the general public on Saturday, April 24th and Sunday, April 25th
