Oded Ezer’s The Typographer’s Guide To The Galaxy
Can’t wait. Can’t wait. Can’t wait.
I will have to wait.
Until April, that is, until I can get my hands on a copy of The Typographer’s Guide To The Galaxy, the latest and greatest by Israeli type designer, Oded Ezer.
idCast did an interview with the man himself, and got more details on the upcoming release of the 192-page, hardcover signature. See a sneak peek, courtesy of Gestalten Books.
Ezer is a practicing graphic designer and educator based out of Tel Aviv, and should be considered (I believe) a pioneer in modern experimental type design. He treats letterforms as bodies with specific anatomies, just like humans. He integrates gorgeous calligraphic elements with biological forms. His Biotypography series has received much attention and acclaim. Typosperma, a series of letters based on a visual fusion of the sperm cell, the human form, and letterform elements, has been exhibited at the MOMA in NYC, as well as Tortured Letters, Typoplastic Surgeries, and Typomythologies.
