ROOT Cocktail Competition at Bossa Nova Recap
The Pittsburgh ROOT Cocktail Competition had the whole town talking. Last week some of the finest barmen and women made their way to Bossa Nova Lounge to take part in the second ROOT Competition. As guests drank cocktails, noshed on hors-devours and watched their favorite bartender mix up ROOT in various ways, the night unraveled to be a great success, especially for the winner. The Firehouse Lounge represented by Alana Bly, took the lead with her Champarelle cocktail – impressing the judges and onlookers. This smooth and complex drink was made of yellow chartreuse, Courvoisier, curacao and the star of the evening – ROOT. Other participating bars were Embury, Willow, Yo Rita, The Sonoma Grille, Bossa Nova and SOBA Lounge. The judges for the evening were Rick Sebak of WQED TV, Liz Fetchin of Pittsburgh Magazine and Craig Mrusek of Dr. Bamboo Blog.
