ROOT Cocktail of the Week: Ginger ROOT Sling
The ROOT Competition at Silk City brought together 14 talented baretenders, with a few of them shining over the rest. The top 4 recipes the took the judges for a spin were from Katie Loeb of Oyster House (1st) Andres Sanchez of Positano Coast (2nd) Stephen Siebert of Village Whisky (3rd) and Dave Marks of North 3rd (honorable mention)

It’s called the “Ginger ROOT Sling” based on a Singapore Sling. The Singapore Sling was invented by Ngiam Tong Boon for the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel in Singapore sometime between 1910 and 1915; it is a kind of sling, a traditional type of cocktail.
1oz Root
1oz Blue Coat Gin
1/2oz Cherry Liqueur
2oz Pineapple Juice
1/2oz Simple Syrup
1/2 Lime
Spl Angostura Bitters
Spl Grenadine
*served on rocks in a goblet, garnished with a lime wedge or other fruit garnish.
