Sound in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction
Professor David Suisman drew quite a crowd to the store Tuesday night for his lecture on sound in the age of mechanical reproduction. While listeners sipped ROOT cocktails, Dr. Suisman touched on everything from the song “Happy Birthday to You” to the early 20th-century opera singer Enrico Caruso, the world’s first true celebrity musician. (And almost a century before music blogs!)
If you couldn’t make it, you can still enjoy some photos and pick up a copy of Dr. Suisman’s recent release, Selling Sounds. Then stay tuned for news about Sound in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, a forthcoming collection of essays!
