BEAUTIFUL LOSERS, a documentary premiering at SWSW on March 9, is directed by Aaron Rose. The film follows the life and rise of influential visual artists from a street, skate, graffiti, hip-hop, and punk backgrounds whose work has left an indelible mark in pop culture, music, art, and fashion. The artists include: Shepard Fairey, Margaret Kilgallen, Mike Mills, Barry McGee, Jo Jackson, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine, Stephen Powers, Geoff McFetridge, Thomas Campbell and Ed Templeton.
Considered "outcasts" of sorts for their do-it-yourself approach to creative exploits spanning a variety of mediums, these artists have redefined a generation. Their work speaks to contemporary audiences through the vernacular of youth and underground culture.
