The Future Is Here….Greyworld’s Kinetic Sculpture

When I think of the future, I think of robots and the end of the world.  As far as Art, anything goes.  Greyworld, a UK based group of artists, founded by Andrew Shoben, puts kinetics on a whole new level, aspiring to articulate the otherwise ignored public spaces of a city.

In Monument to the Unknown Artist, located by the Tate Modern in London, this 6 meter tall structure appears to be just another bronze statue of an artist wearing a scarf and holding a paint brush in his hand.  However, those passing by will notice subtle movement suddenly changing into an entirely different pose, thus creating life like movements and gestures, drawing awe and wonderment from spectators worldwide.
