"Fluffy" – My Guardian Snake
In the “wilderness” you can forget about Guardian Angels. People up here learned long ago that praying won’t save you. In New England, you don’t ask for a miracle to chase away your troubles, you run them off yourself with a big stick and/or a shotgun.
But me? I’m exceptionally lucky.
I am blessed with a Guardian Rat Snake that lives in a crack in my front stairs.
His name is Fluffy, and he is harmless. He chases away rats, mice, and assorted rodents that shack up in the foundations of old houses like mine (see below).
We hang out in the morning, if it’s sunny, while I drink my coffee. He also comes around during the peak heat hours of the afternoon while I eat a sandwich outside. Fluffy is a great listener and always agrees with my opinions.
“Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.”
