Homeward Bound Now Available at Art in the Age
Now available at the Art in the Age store and our online store, the limited edition release of Homeward Bound: The Life and Times of Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry.
January 14th, 2011 marked what would have been the 100th birthday of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. To ring in the Sailor Jerry Centennial, Quaker City Mercantile has created a series of limited edition Sailor Jerry Rum bottle labels featuring Sailor Jerry’s legendary artwork. In addition, QCM Creative Director Steven Grasse has produced a hardcover companion book to the film Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry, with the film’s director Erich Weiss.
The limited edition book, Homeward Bound: The Life and Times of Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry has been published to accompany the critically-acclaimed cult film, Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry and commemorate the Sailor Jerry Centennial.
With previously unseen photos, ephemera and essays collected during the making of the film, the 128-page, hardbound book recalls the era and artistic legacy of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins, the father of the old-school tattoo. Like the movie itself, this limited edition book is a visual ethnography painting the larger picture of American tattooing’s roots using Sailor Jerry’s life as a medium.
A companion piece to the film, ‘Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry,’ the book is a limited edition of 3,000 copies and is available now at the Art in the Age Store and on our online shop!
