Keep Support for The Arts In The Stimulus Package! Write Your Congressman!
Image: from The Daily Swarm
A totally disturbing article was brought to my attention today from The Daily Swarm. In “Why Is The Stimulus Package Screwing The Arts?“, David Prince reports on troubling commentary made by several senators during discussions regarding the Economic Recovery Bill just passed by the Senate. The LA Times reports:
Maybe the arts just aren’t that stimulating. At least that seems to be the sense of the U.S. Senate—including California Democrat Dianne Feinstein, who joined a wide majority Friday in passing an amendment “to ensure that taxpayer money is not lost on wasteful and non-stimulative projects” such as funding museums, theaters and art centers.
Frankly, I am aghast and upset. Are you, too?
