LIVESTOCK UPDATE: 5 Week Old Kittens Arrive At The Farm EARLY!
One week ago, I received a call from the Human Society…Chai and Tiki (now “Ti” for short), were allowed to come home to the farm with me, technically under my “foster care” until the official adoption on August 18. The Humane Society staff was concerned that they were too young to be in a room with 20 other kittens, being the runts of the pack and such.
So away I sped down White Mountain Highway to pick up my little farm babies.
And officially became a cat-mom!
These two are truly miracle kitties. They were the only babies saved from the litter, and they certainly have their share of maladies because of this (as I am learning). The two of them have passed back and forth a kitten cold and some ear mites. I’ve been chasing the two of them around with anti-biotics in a dropper and wet paper towels, wiping their little faces. They have each other, though, for warmth and company when I am working outdoors.
I am keeping them inside, safe from predators (owls, hawks, coyotes), until they are stronger and can fend for themselves. The veterinarian told me that they were taken from their REAL cat-mom far too early, and were suffering from weakened immune systems and general “skinniness”. Now THAT I can solve with plenty of TLC and delicious kitten foods.
Chai and Ti (har har har) are purring away in the kitchen as I type…
And great news for anyone following The Kitten Saga…
THEY ARE NATURAL-BORN BLOGGERS (see below)!
