I’ll Take Two: The Sippin’ 5 Star Cocktails of Manhattan Cocktail Classic

So much to sip, so little liver. Manhattan Cocktail Classic’s opening gala offered up a menagerie of cocktails for revelers to choose from. At every turn, we saw, we sipped, we savored. Yep, enthusiasts pretty much scored on the cocktail front. Bars, bartenders and craft cocktails literally occupied almost every inch of the New York Public Library leaving City Sip staffers palettes perplexed for days. But through all that we sipped and saw, these cocktail “craftorians” really delivered with spirited execution, delivery, presentation and taste. Dream a little drink come true in I’ll Take Two: The Sippin’ 5 Star Cocktails of Manhattan Cocktail Classic.

The Shoeless Sultan by Brian Van Flandern featuring Don Julio Anejo

1oz. Don Julio Anejo
½ oz. Laustau Palo Cortado Sherry
1 oz. Fresh Mango Puree
½ oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. Agave Nectar
¼ tsp. Chipotle Chili Powder

Infuse with fresh rosemary. Serve in a highball glass and garnish with a rosemary sprig.

Blackthorne’s Cask by Todd Richman featuring Michael Collin’s Whiskey

2 1/2 oz. Michael Collins Irish Whiskey
.75 oz. VYA Sweet Vermouth
5 dashes of Versinthe Absinthe Superior
3 dashes Angostura bitters
*All of the ingredients were aged in a first used Tutthilltown Bourbon Barrel for 7 weeks.

Stir with ice, strain into a martini glass and garnish with an orange twist.

Blue Mountain Daiquiri by Willy Shine featuring Appleton Estate Reserve

2 oz. Appleton Estate Reserve
1 oz. fresh lime juice
1 oz. demerara syrup
flamed orange peel
fresh nutmeg
dust of Blue Mountain coffee grounds

Shake and strain ingredients into a chilled martini glass, flame orange peel, dust with nutmeg and freckle with coffee grounds.

 

Root Julep by Charlotte Voisey featuring Root Liqueur
2 oz. Root Liqueur
1 oz. fresh lime juice
3/4 oz. simple syrup
10 loose mint leaves

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.

 

Plumdog Martini by Daniel Udell featuring Bulldog Gin

2 oz. Bulldog Gin
1 oz. Japanese Plum Wine
1 oz. Lavender Soda
lavender Sugar Rim
black plum half wheel garnish

Stir all ingredients over ice and strain. Serve in martini glass with lavender sugared rim glass and garnish.
