Art in the Age

I recently relocated to Philly to work on “art stuff”, you know, personal projects and the like. Yeah. I didn’t tell most people because I hate having to explain myself when it comes to this. I mean, people will literally question the move for hours. STOP. Anyway, in Philly, as I recently learned, “First Fridays” are a really big deal. The biggest deal some might say.

You might be wondering what “First Friday” is..well…

The first Friday evening of every month art galleries throughout the city open their doors to the art loving public. Browse or buy art at the opening receptions and continuing shows. The crowds and the art work are diverse aThe 40 plus galleries are the streets fill with art lovers of all kinds who wander among the neighborhood’s 40-plus galleries, most of them are open from 5 until 9 p.m.

BLAH, BLAH…I went to a store called Art in the Age that night, it was across the street from a gallery that Kristin told Meg and I was awesome…yes I was with the twins.. The art in that gallery was wack but we did get free chips and salsa and brownies outta the deal. Haha. Kristin was sooo about those brownies! Haha. The lady working the door was staring her down as she left the opening with about 4 on a plate! Haha.

Anyway, back to Art in the Age, the store was pretty cool and they had things you would see in any “hipsters” closet and also things you would see in a grandmothers cubburd, which now that I think about it, you would prolly see some of that stuff in a hipster’s closet too! A lot of the clothes were really nice and the black spot shoes brought back memories of high school and Adbusters magazine. The store had some free booze, which is nice, and the lot of us loved the liqour they were serving. It was called ROOT and it mixed really well with ginger ale; ginger ale is a favorite soda of mine. YES! The ROOT supply ran dry quickly, as it was hit at the event, meaning we only got one serving, shucks. I found a woman named Nicole who worked for the company and she assured me that she would send over a bottle of ROOT to me, this made me smile. When it comes I plan to have a little get together and have people tell me what they think about it, maybe I can get two bottles, maybe, we’ll see.

If you live in Philly, please check out the Art in the Age store, it’s located at 116 N 3rd street. It’s really nice and has cute little knick knacks and some pretty cool clothing as well in there. Yeah I said “cute”; EAT IT. Haha. I’d love to shoot the next lookbook for them, I think I have a pretty cool idea for em, who knows.

Enjoy the rest of the photos.

Later nerds,
antwan.
