Party to Support West Philly’s Mill Creek Farm
Mill Creek Farm at 49th and Brown St. is an amazing urban farm that’s part community garden and part working environmental education farm. Its mission is to improve access to nutritious food, and to develop a sense of community in the Mill Creek neighborhood while educating people about urban agriculture and the importance of sustainable living.
On Sunday, December 5th, the farm will be holding its annual fundraiser at the Fairmount Park Waterworks (at the base of the art museum along the Schuylkill River), which will include:
• The Premier of “West Philly Grown,” a documentary film about the Mill Creek Farm
• Exciting variety of silent auction and raffle prizes (make great holiday gifts)
• Live Music by The Bro’s Perspective, a jazz-funk-fusion trio, plus violinist Carlos Santiago and harpist Mary O’Malley
• Drinks from The Philadelphia Brewing Company, Dock Street Brewery, and Art in the Age
• Food from local restaurants including Bar Ferdinand, Beau Monde, and Honest Tom’s Taco Shop
• A chance to visit the historic waterworks
When: Sunday, December 5, 2010 (4:30 pm – 7:30 pm)
Where: the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center, 640 Waterworks Drive, Philadelphia (behind the Art Museum)
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at the door.
