ROOT TRIP UPDATE: Putting Down ROOTs in Burlington, VT
A pleasant drive on winding mountain roads and a quick zip up I-89 led us to the lively city of Burlington, Vermont for two days. New friends were made, delicious ROOT samples were shared, and exciting winter events are approaching! Some of our fave spots:
The Bern Gallery: An awesome independent glass-blowing studio & store that hosts the Annual Pipe Classic Glass-Blowing Contest in September. Philly Glassworks fellas (holler!) have won several previous competitions. Check out the link above for more info about the shop, competition, and glass-blowing documentaries!
SEABA (South End Arts & Business Association) Holiday Hop: December 10, take a stroll through the open studios of over 500 participating artists!
E-1 Studios: Caught up with the eclectic and exciting artists (and resident guard dog, Bryce) of E-1 Studios in Burlington’s South End. Check out these artists during the Holiday Hop in their fantastic warehouse studio space on Pine Street.
The Skinny Pancake: Gluten-free/vegan breakfast crepes made with local eggs/veggies/cheese overlooking the lake?! Doesn’t get much better than this.
City Market & Onion River Co-Op: Imagine the selection of WHOLE FOODS…and cross it with a small cooperatively owned grocery store with friendly employees and great events focused on local food. We’re in love!!!
Seventh Generation Headquarters: Serendipitously stumbled upon the Seventh Generation offices inside the Main Street Performing Arts Building.
Lake Champlain Chocolates: We stopped by the factory and cafe to sample some decadent Vermont-handcrafted truffles
August First Cafe: Delicious bakery and cafe in a garage/warehouse space off Main Street. Our baker/server was from Abington, and we totally dig August First Bakery’s baking class ideas!
