Silk City & Indhira Torres
Silk City may have started as a humble dining car, but it’s been one of the most admired spots in Philadelphia ever since its move in the mid 60s.
With a name inspired by the silk trade industry that once flourished in its Patterson, NJ, birthplace, Silk City provides a unique balance of classic Jersey diner and immensely popular bar/nightclub. And with the recent unveiling of their outdoor beer garden, under-the-stars lounging has been added to the mix.
Being able to boast one of Philly’s best food, dance, and drink establishments is no easy feat, but Silk City has managed to do so. They’ve infused the classic American diner menu with exciting new flavors and reinvigorated the traditional diner atmosphere with a trendy and vibrant bar scene. A key ingredient to Silk City’s success is surely their experience behind the bar.
Indhira Torres—one of Silk City’s finest—has been honing her creative mixology skills for the past six years. She’s made a name for herself at various uber-popular Philadelphia restaurants and bars including Amada, El Vez, and the Continental Midtown.
